Hot Hatha Yoga
The primary yoga taught here is a traditional hot hatha yoga as taught to me by my teachers. Hot Yoga is ideally practiced in a room heated to approximately 100 + degrees. Classes include a sequence of postures or asanas and breathing exercises. People of all levels, ages and body types are welcome as this is a beginning-level yoga class. The classes are a challenging, 90-minute workout that improves physical strength, flexibility, and balance while enhancing mental clarity and focus. The heat accelerates the rate of change within the body, improves circulation, helps to eliminate toxins, and significantly reduces the risk of injury during stretching. The poses work synergistically and cumulatively to return the body to a balanced state. As we age our muscles tend to get stiffer, creating more pressure on the joints, by regular stretching we prevent this gradual stiffening and joint deterioration and that is why yoga has a rejuvenating effect. Through regular practice we liberate a vast amount of energy which we can use in our daily life to feel more alive and self fulfilled. We look, move and feel younger. The best part is no special equipment, props or clothing is required. This series was tailored specifically for our cultural problems of job stress, overeating, bad posture, and aggressive lifestyles. With an exact technique and a series of fixed poses, the class will bring health and peace to anyone. In time you'll learn to focus your mind and control your breath, leading you to work harder, deeper, and calmer. As you improve this relationship, you will realize the true meaning of yoga: a union of the body, mind, and spirit.
Hatha Yoga
This class is offered to provide similar benefits of the Hot Yoga class without the heat. The room is not heated yet it is not cool. It will be a balmy 80+ degrees also allowing our bodies a deeper, safer stretch without the intensity of the hotter room. You will break a sweat. This series includes many of the postures in the Hot class however, we do each posture only one time and there are additional postures including abdominal strengthening series. This is a 60 minute class. Please bring your yoga mat, wear comfortable clothing (close fitting if possible) and bring your water.
Silent Hot Yoga
Once a month - the first Friday of each month. Silent Hot Yoga is not a beginning level class. Please call if you are unsure about your status. This class will have no instruction other than announcing each posture and when it is time to change. Silent yoga offers an opportunity to take your practice deeper into more meditative state.
